Our Hapkido in the Park group has actually been training out of a martial arts studio for much of 2009. Having that space was a real blessing, but that studio has now closed. So we are returning to our grassy roots. Back to the park, in other words. Fortunately, we also have the use of a church gymnasium on Mondays. So our new schedule is:

Sundays at 4pm: Tenaya Park, near Fruit and Bullard. From the intersection of Fruit and Bullard, proceed north on Fruit. Turn right on Sample or Teneya. Both streets are cul-de-sacs that lead to Tenaya Park.

Mondays at 3pm: Zoe Eden Community Hall, attached to Saint James’ Anglican Cathedral. 4147 E. Dakota Ave at Cedar Avenue. If you are proceeding East on Dakota, turn left into the Church parking lot before you get to Cedar, and drive all the way to the back.

For our Monday classes we have a few mats, so I tend to save techniques that involve falls or throws for Mondays, and on Sundays we focus on stand-up basics like punch defenses, grab defenses, etc, along with the occasional Silat technique.

Classes are still FREE, though students are expected to drop a couple of bucks in the church’s piggy bank as a thank-you for the use of the hall (UPDATE: I will formalize this donation and charge $2 per class).

If you are interested, come on by, or contact me through the contact form. We are the only Hapkido training group in Fresno and I think we learn and practice some fascinating and highly useful material.
